Sunday, Sunday, Sunday, 2-5 p.m., Dec. 5, 2021, close to 40 writers of all descriptions and variations will gather under the roof the Hardywood Park Craft Brewery for the annual Chop Suey Books Brew Ho- Ho!! I will be among that number to introduce Carlisle Montgomery to those who don’t yet know her, and, my histories, True Richmond Stories and Richmond in Ragtime: Socialists, Suffragists, Sex and Murder. If you’re in the Richmond vicinity, navigate your conveyance down wending, winding Ownby Lane. Books, brews, what else can ya ask for, to purchase your finer reading matter for the holiday gift-giving season, for the bibliophile on your list — or you.
Regarding COVID protocols: BrewHoHo is held in Hardywood’s large event space and the expectation will be set that everyone (regardless of vaccination status) will wear masks while not eating or drinking. Masks will be provided if you’ve run out of your place and thought you shoved it in your coat pocket. No worries. We got you covered. Or at least half your face.
So come on out, mix among real live authors, bend your elbows to partake of the deliciousness Hardywood provides, beer or pizza-wise.
Hardywood didn’t yet exist for most of the period in which Carlisle Montgomery is set, she was fairly much a Legend Brown kind of gal, but, I can assure you, once she tasted some of that Hardywood Bourbon Barrel Stout, she’d want some of that. And there’s Gingerbread Stout and even Christmas Morning, and the ever-dependable Richmond Lager. Thirsty?
Also, she would have by now played there a few times. There’ll be music on Sunday, too.
We hope to see ya’ll.
